If you think you’re under investigation for a white collar crime, or I would suggest any crime, the important thing is to understand what is it that the government is looking at; what do they think that you did wrong?
In that situation, I would probably have an attorney utilize an investigator or an accountant, depending on the scenario, to start asking questions to individuals who would have knowledge and information about what it is that the government is investigating.
I have found in my years of experience, that if a witness is spoken to by one of my investigators prior to hearing from the government or being interrogated by the government that witness will probably be more forthcoming and will answer those questions more naturally than if put in fear by a government agent.
So, I don’t think one should sit around and wait for the ax to fall. I’m a real believer in being proactive and investigating matters which might hurt you.
